About Us
The store is named after the owner and is pronounced Ma-Ma-Dou, which means first born. This is a common name in Gambia and Senegal, West Africa. Momodou Dem is from Gambia and has been in the states since 1995. He started the business in 2000 as a vendor of the Skidmore Saturday Market. Demand for his products became so great that he decided to open a store dedicated to ethnic fashion. This store opened in January 2007 and is located in Lloyd Center on the second floor. Aside from their location in the mall, The House of Momodou also does festivals and fairs throughout Oregon, Washington, California and Montana, most notably the Tillamook County Fair and the Skidmore Saturday Market (Saturday and Sunday between March and December).
